Food for gout sufferers. Gout is a very painful type of arthritis caused by the buildup of crystals in the joints, resulting from high levels of uric acid in the body. The joints are attacked mainly are toes, knees, heels, wrists, fingers and elbows. Besides pain, gout can also make the joints swollen, inflamed, hot and stiff.
Approximately 90% of gout caused by inability of the kidneys to remove uric acid completely from the body through urine. Other cause is because the body produces too much uric acid. In general, gout suffered by men aged more than 40 years old and women who have menopause. People with gout usually have other complaints such as high blood pressure, kidney disease, diabetes and atherosclerosis. Half of gout sufferers are people who are overweight. If allowed, gout can develop into kidney stones and lead to kidney failure.
Abstinence for people with gout
Lifestyle changes, consumption of certain drugs and avoid foods high in purine levels can control the uric acid. These are foods high in purines that are abstinence for gout sufferers. (Remember that each person have different sensitivity to food. Foods that cause gout attacks on a person, is not necessarily the same effect on others).
- Alcohol and soft drinks
- Melinjo and chips
- Nuts
- Mushrooms, cooked spinach, and mustard greens
- Mutton
- Offal and lard (fat)
- Shellfish
- Duck and turkey
- Salmon, mackerel, sardines, crabs, shrimp, and several other fish
- Ice cream and cream
Recommendation
Some of the following are recommended to reduce uric acid:
- Do not take aspirin (if you need pain-reducing medication, select the type of ibuprofen and others)
- Drink plenty of water, especially for people who suffer from kidney stones, uric acid crystals to remove from the body
- Eating foods containing high in potassium such as:
Vegetables and fruits

avocado
Milk and yogurt
banana
- Eat fruits rich in vitamin C, especially citrus and strawberry
- Sexual activity
- Consumption of natural products that can cure gout like sidaguri, Black Seed, brotowali, green tea, etc..
